Carnegie College is one of Scotland’s leading colleges – our core business is about ‘creating futures’ and our customers are always at the heart of our organisation.
Founded in 1899 with funds provided by Andrew Carnegie with the aim of bringing
vocational education to the people of the area through the foundation of a technical college,
acknowledging the respect and influence of his great uncle, George Lauder. Now
111 years later the College stands at the forefront of Further and Higher Education in Scotland
and is highly regarded as a major educational player.
Enterprise, employability and citizenship are core to our principles and demonstrated
by our expertise in meeting the needs of local and national employers and in helping
individuals learn skills, find work and to establish enterprising businesses.
Each year over 10,000 students choose to study with us and the College is now
one of the largest organisations in the Dunfermline area, employing over 550 people, contributing to the local economy with an annual turnover of £23 million.
We are widely recognised as one of the most commercially minded of Scotland’s 43 Colleges and are amongst one of the most financially independent colleges in Scotland, relying only upon approximately 40% funding from the Scottish Funding Council. We place great importance on all our relationships with industry, commerce and public organisations. Establishing and maintaining these links, ensures we offer relevant and up-to-date training for all sectors.
Our commercial company Carnegie Enterprise provides a wide range of commercial, industrial and professional training, bespoke programmes, development and consultancy for both individuals and organisations of all sizes. Whilst our multi-purpose Carnegie Conference Centre offers state of the art conferencing facilities.
Between innovative further and higher education and meeting the changing demands of industry and business in Fife, elsewhere in Scotland and beyond, Carnegie College is a dynamic organisation that stands in a pivotal position in supporting future development and needs for the people and business we serve.
