| Out and About in Dunfermline |
Dunfermline is steeped in history yet still has the buzz of a vibrant, dynamic and fun city in which to live, study and work. Only a few minutes from the UK's largest outdoor music festival, T in the Park, and home to Carnegie Hall, a beautiful 1930's theatre which hosts regular music and drama events with a licensed restaurant/bar you will never be short of entertainment. Nightlife in Dunfermline is excellent, and there are numerous bars and wine bars, cafes, restaurants, live music venues and three nightclubs. You’ll never be stuck for a night out. And of course Edinburgh is only half an hour away by train on the Fife Circle - with more trendy bars, hot spots and nightclubs than any other city in Scotland. Expect old-style pubs as well as cutting-edge bars and clubs. Live music is plentiful on weekends, particularly folk, blues, and jazz. Well-known artists perform at some of the larger venues. Superb theatres and cinemas – and of course the world famous Edinburgh festival, Festival Fringe and Military Tattoo each year in August. For those keen on sport there is a large private gym close to Carnegie College and the local professional football team ‘The Pars’ are just minutes from the campus. For the more adventurous Knockhill racing circuit provides great days out karting or driving and is host to some of the top racing events in the UK.
