| Carnegie College students set the scene for Alhambra Panto |

Carnegie College Digital Media students will see their work on the big
screen this Christmas, after the Alhambra Theatre contacted them to
create real life animated backdrops to this year’s Christmas Pantomime,
Aladdin. “It’s behind you….” ![]() Image: Aladdin (aka Craig Chalmers) with Digital Media students Alhambra Theatre manager Bill Fletcher approached the College initially back in October to see if the students would be willing to offer their expertise to bring the backdrops to life. Digital Media tutor Colin Maxwell then met up with director Lawrie McNicol to discuss the script and what was required. Colin said “When we heard about this opportunity, my students were very excited at the prospect of seeing their work on a big stage like the Alhambra. There’s nothing better to go on their CV!”. HNC Computer Arts and Digital Media Design student Keiran Jarrett said “It has been such a great experience to work on this project. I’ve enjoyed being on this course much more than the whole time l spent at school”. In total, around 30 HNC students have been working on the backdrops as part as their animations project, with plans to have the project finished in the next couple of weeks.
