| Business School students put skills to use for charity |
|
A group of six Carnegie Higher National students from the Andrew
Carnegie Business School presented a cheque for £637 to the Riding for
the Disabled Association (RDA). Their course work required them to work
as a team to manage, organise, market and successfully complete the aims
of their chosen project. The students chose to support the local RDA Group based at Shiresmill, Blairhall. After visiting the centre and learning about the good work undertaken by the volunteers, they went about raising cash for the charity through activities such as raffles and collections. The students also dressed up as clowns one evening visiting venues in Dunfermline asking members of the public for contributions. Ann Anderson, Lecturer with the Andrew Carnegie Business School, said ‘The Business students have raised a magnificent sum for a very deserving charity whilst also fulfilling elements of their course work. They all put in a great deal of effort and are to be congratulated on their achievements.’

The RDA Shiresmill facility is a custom built centre which was opened in 1996 by HRH Princess Anne. Run entirely by volunteers, it provides tuition in riding and riding related activities to people aged from pre-school to adult, who have disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
