Membership
Library membership is available to all students and staff at Carnegie
College. Library accounts for students are created shortly after
enrollment. Your College id card is also your Library card and will be
needed to borrow resources or access computers. Staff
registration forms are available on request from Library staff.
External membership
External membership is available to individuals for study purposes. Application forms are available on request from Library staff. External members are entitled to borrow up to 4 items (excluding short loan items) and use Study Zone computers.
Resources on the shelves
The Study Zone holds around 27,000 resources including books, DVDs, newspapers and journals. Resources are available on 28 day, 7 day and 1 day loans. Most items are available on 28 day loan but some high demand items are available on shorter loans. Some resources are for reference only and can only be used within the Study Zone. You can check what is in stock in the Study Zone from the online Library catalogue.
What resources do you want to see in the Study Zone? Complete a stock suggestion form and return to a Library staff member.

Overdue resources
Please remember that you are responsible for ensuring that you return resources on time. Once a resource becomes overdue, fines are generated at the rate of 5p per item per day. Overdue reminders will be sent to you asking for the return of items. If materials are still not returned, a college invoice is issued asking for the full replacement cost of the material plus the fine, plus a £2 charge for generating the invoice. Once an invoice has been issued, items must be returned immediately. All library access privileges, including borrowing and access to computing facilities will be suspended whilst resources or fines are outstanding.
