Study Zone


Welcome to the Study Zones at Carnegie College.  There are 2 Study Zones within the College.  One is located at Halbeath and the other can be found at the Rosyth Campus.  The Study Zones offer a learning space where you will find many resources to help you with your College studies.  You can access:

  • Resources including books, journals, newspapers and digital resources
  • Library Services including resource lending
  • Computers and learning technologies
  • WiFi for laptops and other mobile devices available at Study Zone Halbeath
  • The Quiet Zone at Halbeath

Resources


The Study Zones at Halbeath and Rosyth Campus offer access to 27,000 resources.  This includes books, journals, DVDs, multimedia and daily newspapers.  For details of how to access and borrow these resources see Library Services.

Quiet Zone


The Quiet Zone is located off the mezzanine in Study Zone at Halbeath.  It offers a quiet and peaceful study environment where you can study or use your laptop.


Computers


Networked computers available for student and staff use in the Study Zone Rosyth and Study Zone Halbeath.  There are 40 computers at Halbeath and 10 at Rosyth. 

To use a computer you need to book in at the Library Services desk with your student id card.  Computers can be booked in advance.

WiFi access


Internet access is available to laptop users in the Study Zone Halbeath through the Wifi network.  Registration forms for WiFi access are available from Library staff.  Wifi access is not currently available in at the Study Zone Rosyth.


Printing


Black and white and colour printing facilities are available from the Study Zones at Halbeath and Rosyth.  Printing for College purposes is free.  We would ask that you do not print multiple copies. For more than one copy, please use the Study Zone photocopier. Please be aware that printing is expensive in terms of paper and ink cartridges and we have to bear the cost. Excessive printing may lead to a charge.


Photocopying


There are black and white and colour photocopying facilities available at the Study Zones at Halbeath and Rosyth.  The following charges apply for photocopying (prices are per sheet):

   A4  A3
 Black and white  5p  10p
 Colour  10p  20p

Copyright


Please ensure you are familiar with copyright before using the photocopier.  Information on copyright is avialable on the wall beside the photocopier  .  Please check with a member of Library staff if you are unsure.

Audio visual services


Learners have access to video and DVD viewings facilities.  Please ask Library Services Staff for details
