Scholarship Programme
Thirteen qualifying students were awarded scholarships for the 2009/2010 academic session. The courses in which they were supported reflected the variety of subjects offered by the College. Each student has been monitored throughout the year and scholarship instalments have been paid subject to satisfactory attendance and performance. The Scholarship Fund was launched with a £20,000 contribution by the College’s Board of Management from its own small charitable fund and was matched by a further £20,000 from Shell U.K Limited, specifically for Engineering students. Since then general appeals and specific approaches have been made for further funds to allow continuation of our support for students. Clearly our continued ability to fund such awards is dependent on our success in the receipt of donations from individuals and businesses. While some small donations has been generated, more are needed to meet the needs of prospective 2010/2011 students and to build up the fund for the future. ![]() Demand for places at Carnegie College continues to increase but, for some, successful completion of a course of study, which could result in stable employment, could be hindered by their financial circumstances. The College is kean to attract and retain able advanced level students whose attendance will allow them to fulfil their potential. However, our ability to assist some of them to succeed could be significantly limited by a reducing level of available Scholarship funds. There can be little doubt that the economic recession is having a major effect in increasing the number of people applying – those who have been made recently unemployed as well as school leavers seeking to gain a vocational qualification. The College has made it clear that in many subject areas it has both the physical and the staffing capacity to accept more qualified students. Unfortunately it does not have the necessary student funding which most students require to support them through their studies. Consequently, the College continues to appeal for financial support for its Scholarship Fund. If you can help, your support will be much appreciated. Two methods are available to facilitate donations :-
Please note that all donated funds will benefit Scholarship students only and will under no circumstances be used to meet normal Carnegie College expenditure. Thank you for your interest. Click here to donate or call 01383 845038 |
