Guide to Qualifications

Understanding qualifications and frameworks help students to plan their learning and gain as much credit as possible from previous learning and work experience. Read through this section and you will see how qualifications relate to each other and how you can progress towards your learning goals. Progression Routes Whatever your ambition or aspirations, we have the courses to suit your needs. At Carnegie College you’ll find that our courses are both career orientated and academic. And we never stand still. Our course portfolio is always developing to support changes in the national and local economy.   We offer a wide range of qualifications. Most are awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and are designed to help develop the skills relevant to your chosen career or interest. All our courses are nationally recognised by employers and educational institutes. Support and advice is always on hand from our Customer Services team and other support and teaching staff, who will be able to advise and help you decide upon the best programme of study for you. What’s right for you will depend upon the qualifications you already have and the direction you would like your career to take. You can enter the education system at various levels, depending upon your ability and previous qualifications. You have the choice of leaving at any stage, perhaps to seek employment, to get a better job or to secure promotion. The diagram below shows that you can re-enter the education system at any time and continue to progress through it at your own pace (possibly exiting and re-entering again) until you reach your ultimate goal.
