13. Teaching Quality

This section contains information regarding the management of teaching quality in the college including mechanisms for reviewing and ensuring the quality of teaching provided.

Programme approval

Carnegie College has an internal Programme Design Approval Procedure.  Details of this are available online.

Programme Team reports are produced for each programme on an annual basis.  Copies of these are available upon request.  In some cases, only partial disclosure will be possible, depending on the contents of these reports.

Student satisfaction

Learners are issued with questionnaires three times a year, asking for feedback on their experiences on their course and on the use of College facilities.  Results of these questionnaires can be provided upon request.

Institutional internal reviews

Carnegie College undertakes a range of internal reviews.  Programme Team Co-ordinators are asked to prepare course team reports on an annual basis for each programme offered.  Each School and Support Department is asked to undertake a self-evaluation of the service they provide during the Academic Planning process each year.  There is an annual programme of College Review, which benchmarks academic and support services against HMIe, ISO and IIP standards.  Staff development is offered on an individual basis to all staff.  This might include peer observation and mentoring.  Further information is available upon request, although some exemptions will apply.

Professional accreditation of courses by external bodies

Written evidence can be provided of nature of accreditation of professional, statutory or regulatory bodies via maintaining reports, approvals letters or certification available on request from the Academic Development and Quality Office.

Validation

Carnegie College does not validate its own awards but, in some limited circumstances, it has the authority to give itself approval to offer awards, programmes and courses validated by awarding bodies such as Scottish Qualifications Authority.  Full information on programmes and courses offered is available through the college web site, e-mail enquiries to Customer Services and through paper based fact sheets. (Our 'search' section of the college website will allow you to access factsheets )
