Science Suite
The new science suite at Carnegie College has received high praise for its innovative and inclusive design.
A growing range of vocational courses demand state-of-the-art science facilities for learners. Our new State-of-the-art science suite promotes access to a wide range of career opportunities and progression into careers in the chemical sector, biology and biotechnology, paramedical sector, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics, as well as food science, micro-electronics, opto-electronics, physics and environment sciences.

Unlike traditional laboratories, which can be perceived as intimidating and lacking in modern learning facilities, these facilities have been designed to be accessible to all.

The laboratory is modern and designed to accommodate disabled learners. For instance it has a wheelchair accessible bench, sink and laboratory kit. An ICT learning resource facility with access to the Internet, as well as CD and DVD based interactive learning tools, videos and other learning resources has created a dynamic facility to the highest specification.

Facilities are in place to support students learning at times outwith a traditional study day. This facility is of particular value to remote learners with tutor support provided via the internet and email.

The new suite also has two small tutorial rooms for quiet study, tutorial sessions and small group discussions.

These high quality, modern learning facilities have been purposely designed to meet industry standards and in particular encourage adults learners in the local community to consider a career in science.
