Creative Arts Facility

Carnegie College also has a fresh and exciting learning environment, buzzing with inspiration and creativity. It is a centre for art, drama, design and digital technology, and provides new and different opportunities for those who want to develop their creative talents. In fact it offers lifelong learning opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds - from informal/prevocational study through to advanced level study at Higher National and degree level courses. Not only is there a vast and flexible art space for students to develop their skills and talent in art, interior design, fashion and ceramics; a new drama studio gives students the opportunity to learn and develop their acting talents in a well-equipped, realistic theatrical environment. Complementing this is a superbly equipped suite of design studios each with the capacity and capability to meet the exciting, fast-developing opportunities in digital design, e-commerce and creative technologies. This includes a Macintosh Suite, a sound studio, multi-media suites, e-commerce (theory) classrooms and video conferencing facilities using a "cinema" style screen with digital surround sound and media projection, a fully equipped modern photography studio and darkroom incorporating digital and traditional methods. Facilities have also been developed for Complementary Therapies and Health and Fitness initiatives. There are also new showers, lockers, a customised laundry and a complementary therapy room.
