Access Centre

The Access Team based in the Access Centre provides a dedicated service to ensure support is available to learners who choose to study at Carnegie College. The Access Centre is located on the ground floor in Zone 4 in rooms 4.01 and 4.07. It is open throughout the week and copies of the timetable are available at Access Reception. Members of the Access team also provide support at the School of Engineering and Technology at Rosyth. The support offered is comprehensive and the team provides a responsive service to learners across the college. The service covers academic support, employability skills, enterprise skills and citizenship skills. Academic support Extra support in Communications, Numeracy, Maths and Information Technology Help with study skills Exam preparation workshops Specialist academic workshops A range of assisitive technology and equipment. You may have been away from study for some time and would appreciate help in becoming an effective learner or be experiencing difficulties with parts of your course. The Access team are on hand to help as you progress through your studies. Employability Transition support into college and curriculum Employment opportunities – employer information, advice on preparing CVs, cover letters, completing application forms, interview techniques. Access to newspapers, local authority vacancy bulletins, free stationery, postage, faxing, photocopying and internet usage relating to employment Enterprise Information and Skills Enterprise information Enterprise support and opportunities Citizenship Skills Partnership with SRC Support with voluntary work and community projects Careerzone@tac Careers Scotland visits the college regularly to provide additional information Our links and networks with Careers Scotland as well as employers across industry sectors gives us precise and accurate pictures of what the current skills gaps are and where future career opportunities lie.
