A new dining experience is now available at Carnegie College for students, staff and members of the public to enjoy. The training restaurant has recently undergone refurbishment and has been renamed ‘eat @ carnegie’. The restaurant focuses on learner involvement for both Hospitality and Business students who run the training restaurant as an enterprise activity forming part of their course work. The students, from the Andrew Carnegie Business School, gain practical experience being responsible for planning, organising, marketing and financial recording as well as the preparation and serving of the meals. Rosemary Allford, Head of School, Andrew Carnegie Business School ‘The new restaurant is a great new resource for our students. The refurbishment was undertaken by students from the School of Built Environment who have made a fantastic job of modernising and upgrading the facility. It has been a good example of cross-college collaboration. The former restaurant was always popular with staff, students and the general public, many commendations regarding the standard of service and food have been received. We are sure that the new restaurant will be appreciated by our customers.’ ‘During January the restaurant held very successful lunches and dinners to commemorate Burns’ birthday and February is going to be a busy month for the students. They are preparing for three themed dinners – a Valentine’s Dinner, a Chinese Buffet evening and a West End Theatre Dinner all of which take place on consecutive Wednesday evenings during February. The West End Theatre Dinner will also involve Carnegie College Drama students who will be performing music and comedy sketches on the evening – another example cross-college collaboration, all of which adds value to Carnegie students’ learning experience.’ Rosemary added ‘We are looking forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to ‘eat@carnegie’. Members of the public can book tables for one of the themed evenings or one of our regular lunches by calling 0844 248 0115.’
