Sea cadets based in Oban will soon be taking to the water in a magnificent 56 year old dinghy which has been refurbished by apprentices from Carnegie College School of Engineering and Technology. The Apprentices are all employed by the Ministry of Defence and embarked on the refurbishment two years ago under the guidance of Carnegie’s Business Development Advisor, Gordon Scobie.

Carnegie College is now offering a Professional Development Award (PDA), 'Supporting individuals with dyslexia in learning and workplace settings'. Led by lecturer Anona Scott the course comprises of two units, covering understanding, supporting and working with individuals with dyslexia.

As a member of The National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES) - a professional representative body for practitioners from all styles of Student Employment Services - the careerzone at Carnegie College and NASES recently launched their 2009 Student Employee of the Year award, aimed at recognising and promoting the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who effectively combine part-time work with their study commitments.
