The Scottish Parliament has today, Friday 30 November, fully endorsed the proposed name change to Carnegie College from Lauder College. This announcement marks the start of a new era for the entrepreneurial college founded and now re-named after one of the world’s greatest businessmen, Andrew Carnegie.

Carnegie College Assistant Principal, Janet McCauslin, was awarded an MBE in the 2008 New Year Honours List, for her contribution in education to social inclusion, equal opportunities, and diversity and workforce development. At the end of November she travelled with her family to London to receive the award.
Speaking about her award Mrs McCauslin said ‘I was honoured to receive the award from HRH the Prince of Wales, and my visit to Buckingham Palace was a truly memorable occasion for myself and my family.’ |

On Thursday 27 November, Carnegie College Principal Bill McIntosh and members of staff presented a cheque for £2500 to the Riding for the Disabled Association’s Shiresmill stables. The money was raised at an auction and raffle that were held during the College’s Charity Ball held in September. Local businesses and friends of staff donated prizes which included a day’s hospitality at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club, a round of golf for four at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews, hampers, cases of wine and other luxury treats. |

Copies of the 2008 Graduation ceremony DVD are now available for purchase from the Corporate Marketing Team. The DVD captures the event held on Wednesday 17th September this year in Dunfermline Abbey and includes clips of the students receiving their gowns and certificates.

Each year the college invites partners, associates and students to attend the George Lauder Lecture, an event which will continue in the years to come as part of the Carnegie College calendar of events. The Lauder name has served the college well and it will continue to be used widely across the organisation.
