Carnegie College is delighted to announce the acquisition of new premises in Rosyth – the former Fire Station in Castle Road. As an extension to our Engineering campus in Rosyth campus, this site will allow us to increase the number of places on our Modern Apprentice and engineering courses, enabling us to meet the skill needs for the Engineering, Technology and Renewables sectors.
Principal, Professor Bill McIntosh stated ‘During recent years we have seen a huge increase in demand from employers, not just here in Fife but from across the UK, and our current 7,000 square metre building is now working at capacity. The new site will allow us to increase our student numbers at Rosyth and meet the demands for the growing manufacturing/renewables and marine sectors’. ‘The investment in the Fire Station will establish a dedicated centre for Automotive Engineering and for the delivery of commercial workforce development training that will bring customers from all over Scotland. It is anticipated that this will in turn bring about demand for local services in the Rosyth area and demonstrates Carnegie’s commitment to supporting the local economy.’ Council Leader Peter Grant is delighted that the building will be put to good use by one of the council’s community planning partners. He commented: “Carnegie College is planning to use the former fire station to help young people develop their skills through the modern apprentice scheme – creating real opportunities for their future.” Posted 14 June 2010 |
