In May, at a ceremony in front of college staff and invited guests, successful students were presented with certificates by Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, John Park.
Representatives from Dunfermline JobCentre Plus, Skills Development Scotland, Fife Council and local employers were there to celebrate the successful completion of the Care Pre-recruitment course run by the centre. ![]() ![]() The students involved all had a strong desire to work in the care sector but mostly with no previous experience of that type of work. Several of the students have now found work or are waiting on start dates. Tutor Diane Macleod, one of the tutors who runs the programme along with tutors David Clerihew, Denise Yates, Richard Cunningham and May Blair, said “Twelve people participated in the 2 week in-house training, followed by 2 weeks of work experience with local care sector employers. When all the care students begin work, they will continue their learning by enrolling an SVQ2 in Care.” ![]() Diane continued “Very positive feedback was received from all employers who took part in the work experience, and all students were grateful for the opportunity to gain from practical experience. We would like to thank all employers who offered placements for their support and encouragement. In addition, around 12 students from Positive Moves course and a similar number of Get Ready for Work (GRfW) students received Learndirect certificates. Martin Joyce, a GRfW student will be presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award. |
