Carnegie College Staff Present Cheque to Riding for Disabled Association at Shiresmill

disabled riding photo.jpg   On Thursday 27 November, Carnegie College Principal Bill McIntosh and members of staff presented a cheque for £2500 to the Riding for the Disabled Association’s Shiresmill stables. The money was raised at an auction and raffle that were held during the College’s Charity Ball held in September. Local businesses and friends of staff donated prizes which included a day’s hospitality at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club, a round of golf for four at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews, hampers, cases of wine and other luxury treats.

Speaking about the fundraising Diane Grieve, Carnegie College Childcare lecturer, said ‘The annual staff ball is a great night out but always has a serious side. Whilst having fun we raise money for a local charity. This year we chose the Riding for Disabled Association’s stables at Shiresmill who do such good work encouraging children and young people with additional support needs to develop physically, emotionally and socially. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local businesses who contributed so generously to enable us to reach such a great sum. Special thanks should go to Karen Davidson, Manager of the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, who always manages to rally the support of the businesses within the Kingsgate on our behalf’.
