Local Lord to Deliver College Lecture
Lord Sandy Leitch of Oakley will return to his native Fife later this month to address guests from local industry at Carnegie College’s annual George Lauder Lecture on the theme of ‘Business - Preparing for Tomorrow’.

 principal and lord leitch.jpg  Lord Leitch, who was brought up in the West Fife mining village of Oakley, forged his career in the insurance and financial sectors, serving at senior level in well-known organisations. He also Chaired several government schemes on Employment and Skills, and his 2006 Report ‘Prosperity for all in the Global Economy: World Class Skills’ included a vision for workforce skills in 2020 to enable Britain to compete successfully in global markets.


Principal of Carnegie College, Bill McIntosh, said ‘Education, training, business and politics are intrinsically linked to the prosperity of a nation and its ability to compete on a global scale. In today’s challenging economic climate any community, be it social, business or budding entrepreneurs looking to succeed must consider how to prepare for the future.

I am delighted that Lord Leitch has accepted our invitation to speak at what is the first George Lauder Lecture under the Carnegie College banner.’ The 2008 George Lauder Lecture takes place on Thursday 27 November in the Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath, Dunfermline.
