Carnegie College Student Employee of the Year 2009

As a member of The National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES) - a professional representative body for practitioners from all styles of Student Employment Services - the careerzone at Carnegie College and NASES recently launched their 2009 Student Employee of the Year award, aimed at recognising and promoting the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who effectively combine part-time work with their study commitments.

The careerzone at Carnegie College is a centralised and inclusive base and on-line portal which has been designed to house appropriate and up-to-date resources that are essential to support learners to progress into the workplace and thereafter sustain employment and we are delighted that Care Assistant Lynne King has been chosen as the college winner and will now go through to the regional finals. Winners from these finals will then go onto the National and International Finals in July. lynne king and principal.jpg

Employed by Kingdom Homes Ltd, working from Alexander House in Cowdenbeath, Manager Sharon Adams nominated Lynne for the award and had this to say about her, “Lynne’s drive and enthusiasm is admirable, she never complains, has a very high standard of performance and genuinely cares for the people she looks after. She never ceases to amaze me, having five children under the age of 11, yet manages to attend college, work part-time and run her household. I know Lynne is looking to study further and become a nurse, and can only say that she will make an excellent nurse who will make a difference to all the people she will look after.”

Principal Bill McIntosh (pictured) congratulated Lynne on winning through to the next round of the awards, and presented her with a certificate and a gift voucher. If Lynne makes it through to the national finals, she will bring home a cheque for £200.
