The Business Impact Suite (BIS) at Carnegie College’s Access Centre, Methil and supported by Fife Council, is a new facility for unemployed people in east and central Fife looking to start up a new business, was officially opened on 29 May by Peter Hughes OBE, Chief Executive of Scottish Engineering. Within the BIS, ‘Business Incubators’ offer hot desking and a whole range of business support services seldom available in one location and is especially attractive to new and growing business for their waterside location, with easy parking, in a state of the art business facility.
The BIS provides office space for up to 12 hot deskers with high specification computers and printers, filing cabinets, telephone and internet access in a small high specification secure office environment. Rose Duncan, Access Centre Manager said ‘We have been delighted to work with Fife Council on this project. The concept of the BIS is one of business synergy and growth through access to professional and business support services, calling upon the services of Access Centre staff who have a wealth of experience in this area. We have supported large numbers of micro businesses over the past 10 years over which time we have enabled development of community confidence and seen many businesses grow and develop. The incubator pods offer a fantastic first-step for new business not quite ready to take on commercial premises.’ Councillor Peter Grant, Fife Council’s Leader of the Administration, said: "The work being done at the Levenmouth Access Centre based at Thomson House is an outstanding example of how a small number of determined and committed people can make a real difference to people's lives. Fife Council is pleased to have been able to support the Business Impact Suite as the latest in a succession of initiatives at the Access Centre that are playing an important role in the regeneration of Levenmouth. “It was fitting though not entirely surprising that on the day the Business Impact Suite was formally opened, Rose and her colleagues picked up a national award in recognition of some of their earlier work here. I look forward to hearing their Good News Bell ringing many more times in the future." |
